Music plays a very important role in Burkinabé life. Traditional instruments have spiritual and cultural value as well as the capacity to make music. In this country, music is a part of almost every significant activity in one’s life. Film is also a part of the cultural identity of the country. As host of the Festival Panafricain du Cinéma et de la Télévision de Ouagadougou (FESPACO), an international film festival held in the capital each year, Ouagadougou is the undisputed film capital of Africa.
